Introduction to Depression Issues

According to the NIMH (National Institute of Mental Health)

Major Depressive Disorder:

* is the leading cause of disability in the U.S. for ages 15-44
* affects approximately 14.8 million American adults, or about 6.7 percent of the U.S. population age 18 and older in a given year.
* the median age at onset is 32
* more prevalent in women than in men.

Many people are affected by depression and know at least someone in their lives struggling with this disease. One major problem is that most people don't know that they are dealing with depression.
